“Go into the world and proclaim the Good News”
From the beginning Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish had more happening at the Parish than building structures, there was also the proclaiming the “Good News,” sharing the faith and growing in wisdom and knowledge of God. With the first Catholic Church being built in 1951 the Pastor, Fr. Campbell began the Monday evening devotions, that continue to this day as the Monday Night Rosary in the Adoration Chapel in Los Alamos, and at St. Joseph Church in White Rock. By the 1960’s the Parish had a very active Religious Education Program for the Children of this Parish that continues to this day with classes offered in Los Alamos and White Rock. In the 1980’s with the support of Fr. John Conway the laity of the parish were invited to make the Liturgy of the Hours, Morning Prayer (Lauds) a part of their prayer lives. For the youth we have for years made efforts to invite them to grow in their faith, using retreats, World Youth Day, mission trips and other opportunities. With Fr. Glennon Jones coming to the Parish there was a renewed emphasis on Missions and Adult Faith Formation, the Alpha Program was offered at our Parish. By February 2019 the Parish developed a program called LYFE U (Live Your Faith Everyday University). Which would take place in the Spring and Fall, starting with a meal and then there would be a choice of classes offered on the faith, people would choose which of the classes offered they would like to attend. The focus on Adult Faith Formation continues today. Through the COVID-19 pandemic Zoom was used to have Bible Study and Theology on Tap. As the Parish has moved forward from the restrictions of the pandemic the Parish returned to Thursday Lenten Soup Suppers that include a talk, and Monday Faith Formation Classes were added.
